With eight days to go before the presidential election in the United States, 59.5 million people have already voted in advance, according to data compiled by the US Elections Project, coordinated by Professor Michael McDonald, of the University of Florida.
The number of early votes already represents 43.1% of the total votes registered in 2016, when the Republican Donald Trump was elected president of the country. The American elections are officially scheduled for November 3.
Of the total votes so far, more than 40 million were registered by post, while 19.4 million were cast in person.
