Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam today announced new measures to combat the resurgence of cases in the new coronavirus, which includes meetings of up to four people and the use of a mask on public transport.
The recent outbreak of covid-19 worries the authorities of this densely populated territory, with 7.5 million inhabitants, where local contamination had already been controlled.
In the past week, however, outbreaks of the disease have returned, particularly in a nursing home. At least 32 cases have been recorded.
Among other measures, restaurants will be able to sell food only for delivery, from 6 pm until 5 am. Gym, karaoke rooms, beauty salons and nightclubs will be closed.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Hong Kong has officially registered just over 1,400 infected with coronavirus, with eight deaths.
