Rome, Oct 14 (EFE) .- Italy reported this Wednesday the notification of 7,332 more cases of infection by the new coronavirus, the largest brand in the country since February 21, when the first positive result was recorded for the pathogen that causes covid-19.
To date, the peak of contagion had been on March 21, when 6,557 were counted. That day, the authorities carried out 26,300 diagnostic tests, while, according to the bulletin released today, throughout Tuesday the mark of tests performed was 152,196.
With the figures presented by the Ministry of Health, the total number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus in Italy, since the beginning of the pandemic, jumped to 372,799.
Of the more than 7,300 notifications presented today, 1,844 are from the Lombardy region, the most affected since the spread of the pathogen in the country. Then there are Campania, with 818; Veneto, with 657; and Tuscany, with 575.
In addition, the Ministry of Health indicated that 43 deaths from Covid-19 were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 36,289.
Currently, there are 92,445 cases considered to be active by the new coronavirus infection, with 5,470 of these people being hospitalized, 539 in intensive care units.
