Lithuanian Ricardas Puisys, who lived in the UK, was considered dead by the British police since 2015, after disappearing without a trace. Five years after the disappearance, he was found alive hidden in a forest in the east of the country.
“For almost five years, Ricardas’ disappearance was a complete mystery. That was until we received information at the end of June that led us to find him,” said Cambridgeshire police chief Rob Hall.
The last time Puisys had been seen was on September 26, 2015, while working on a farm. Shortly afterwards, he reportedly left the scene to meet with a group of compatriots, disappearing shortly thereafter.
Police investigations indicate that Puisys fled on his own while trying to escape being a victim of exploitation. Hall said at a news conference that the police were slow to disclose that the Lithuanian had been found to ensure his safety first.
