The mystery of the metal monolith that appeared in the US state of Utah continues. The object of unknown origin was found on 18 November. But, according to local authorities, he disappeared on Friday (27). Now photographer Ross Bernards says he saw four men dismantle the structure of the site. His friend who accompanied him at the scene, Michael James Newlands, took pictures of the moment. Was the mystery over?

Ross explained that last Friday, around 8:40 pm (local time), he was there with three other friends when he heard voices in the middle of the desert. Then, four men appeared and began to give strong shoves to the monolith, which began to lean towards the ground. Mysterious men also pushed the object in the opposite direction in an attempt to uproot it.

“That’s why you don’t leave garbage in the desert,” said one of the men who seemed to understand the object as a pollutant for the natural landscape, according to Bernards.

After the efforts, the sculpture fell to the floor with a loud noise. Then the men loaded it and transported it in a wheelbarrow.

“As they walked away with the pieces, one of them said, ‘Don’t leave a trail,'” Bernard said in a telephone interview with The New York Times. The man also pointed out that he did not photograph the men for fear that they were armed, but his friend who accompanied him on the trip, Michael James Newlands, 38, took some quick photos with his cell phone.

“It must have taken a maximum of 10 or 15 minutes for them to drop the monolith and remove it. We didn’t know [Michael e Bernard] who they were and we weren’t going to do anything to stop them. “He added,” They [os homens] they just came to perform and said, ‘This is our mission.’ “Newlands explained to the newspaper.

The mystery is so big that Ripley is providing $ 10,000 to anyone who presents themselves as the legal owner of the monolith or who provides accurate information exclusively to them on where to find it. Tips can be sent anonymously until December 31, at 11:59 pm (local time).

The newspaper also said that yesterday evening the San Juan County sheriff’s office announced that it planned to open a joint investigation with the federal agency of the Land Management Office.

Previously, the local sheriff’s office refused to investigate the case because there was no complaint about the lost property. The official page of Facebook the local sheriff even published a poster, last Sunday, with the photo of nine aliens, playing as if they were responsible for the disappearance.

“Although we take all reports of crime seriously, we do not have adequate resources to devote much time to the appearance and subsequent disappearance / theft of the structure that was discovered in a remote area of public land in our municipality. However, with hundreds of people visiting the area in the past few days, maybe someone has seen something suspicious. If you recognize someone from the schedule provided as being in the area of the strange structure on the night of November 27th, please let us know! “he wrote.

More monoliths?

A mysterious metal monolith appeared in Romania last week after another similar structure found in the remote Utah desert in the United States disappeared.

The bright triangular pillar was found on the Batca Doamnei hill in the town of Piatra Neamt, northern Romania, last Thursday (26). It was located a few meters away from the well-known archaeological landmark of the Petrodava Fortress, a fort built by the ancient Dacian people between 82 BC and 106 AD

In Romania, the triangular structure has a height of about 4 meters and one side faces Mount Ceahlau, known locally as the Sacred Mountain.

The peculiar discovery comes after a similar monolith was found in Utah with no explanation, sparking ironic speculation that it could have been the work of aliens – but most likely it is the work of a prankster inspired by the 2001 science fiction novel : A Space Odyssey “.
