The President of the United States, Donald Trump, went out to play golf after making a brief appearance at the G20 summit, organized by Saudi Arabia in a virtual way due to the covid-19.
Trump, who has yet to admit defeat to Joe Biden in this month’s presidential election, spoke during the opening session of the summit.
A source with access to online sessions, closed to the press, said Trump said he had done “an absolutely incredible job during his tenure, economically and with the pandemic.”
It was an exercise in “self-advertising,” according to the same source, who added that President Trump “said nothing about the global situation.”
“It was an honor to work with you and I hope to work with you in the future and for a long time to come,” said the president at the end of the speech, according to another source.
At the end of the video conference, Trump was replaced by US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, while other world leaders continued to speak.
The Republican mandate later left the White House and headed for a golf course in Virginia, near Washington, where he was greeted by a handful of supporters, one of whom was holding a banner that said “four more years”.
