The continent faces a deluge of Omicron cases. Risking paralyzing essential services, with so many low or isolated people.
The World Health Organization (WHO) forecast is that, at this rate, more than half of Europeans will be infected with Omicron over the next six to eight weeks. It would be a tsunami of cases sweeping the continent, an unprecedented contagion in this pandemic, well capable of collapsing health systems. Even though there is a lot of evidence that this variant of covid-19 causes less serious illness, it is difficult to imagine how a society can continue to function with so many isolated or low-income people.
