Young woman who sued her mother’s doctor “for being born damaged” wins court case

The case will return to court for the full amount of Evie’s compensation to be decided. This will only happen if the parties reach an agreement outside the judicial instances.

Young Evie Toombes, who sued her mother’s doctor on the grounds that she should never have been born, won the right to receive millions of pounds in damages. For suffering from spina bifida, a congenital malformation in which there is an alteration in the process of formation of the spinal cord and structures that protect it, he took the doctor Phillip Mitchell to court for not having advised his mother to take supplements – which he considers vital – before becoming pregnant.
