Patrick Ewing left the hospital where he was admitted a few days ago after contracting the coronavirus on Monday. The former Knicks pivot, now georgetown University coach, was able to return home. The 57-year-old star is “getting better,” her son said.
His stay lasted only a few days. After being admitted to hospital last Friday, Patrick Ewing was able to return to his home on Monday. The 57-year-old former New York Knicks pivot contracted coronavirus. But his condition seems to have improved in recent hours.
“My father is now home and he’s getting better,” his son, Ewing Jr, said on social media. We will continue to monitor his symptoms and follow the hospital’s instructions. I would like to thank all the doctors and hospital staff for taking care of my father during his stay. I hope that everyone will continue to stay safe and protect themselves and their loved ones.”
“The Beast from the East”
A member of the Hall of Fame, Ewing left an indelible memory during his fifteen-year career in the NBA. Madison Square Garden regulars still talk about its devastating counters. Dominant in the racket, the so-called “The Beast from the east” reached two finals with the Knicks (1994, 1999). The Kingtson, Jamaica native also won two Olympic gold medals with Team USA (1984, 1992).
After serving as an assistant in many NBA franchises, he took over three years ago the Georgetown Hoyas, the college team that saw him start in the 1980s in suburban Washington. No member of his club has tested positive for Covid 19 since his hospitalization.
