Embiid keeps the Sixers leaders

The prominence of Cameroonian center Joel Embiid was once again present in the individual and team game of the Philadelphia Sixers who beat the devalued Charlotte Hornets 118-101 on Monday.

Embiid, although he did not have his best scoring inspiration, did finish with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, which defined the victory of the Sixers, the fourth in a row, which consolidates them leaders of the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference ( 6-1).

Forward Tobias Harris took it upon himself to be the leading scorer with 22 points, while the Sixers swept the required two-game series on this year’s schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic and defeated the Hornets for the thirteenth time in a row.

The Philadelphia team has not known a loss to Charlotte since Nov. 2, 2016.

Embiid is the main reason the Sixers started their first season under coach Doc Rivers at 6-1.

Perhaps motivated by the birth of his son, revitalized by the arrival of new coaches, or both, the 26-year-old center has displayed his talents and has become a dominant force on both sides of the field.

Australian point guard Ben Simmons also had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while guard Danny Green hit three triples and reached 13 points.

Forward Gordon Hayward, the Hornets’ great winter break signing, added 18 points as Charlotte’s team leader and point guard Devonte Graham reached 15 points.

However, they were not enough to prevent the defeat of the Hornets (2-5), the third in a row and the second in a row against the Sixers, who won 127-112 last Saturday.
