Episode 5 of “The Last Dance,” a series about Michael Jordan’s career, caused a stir with the appearance of Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash on January 26.
Beware spoiler if you haven’t seen episodes 5 and 6 of “The Last Dance”, available this Monday morning on Netflix
In the midst of confinement, the new episodes of the series “The Last Dance”, dedicated to the career of Michael Jordan, are expected with enormous impatience. Monday’s ones are no exception. Episode 5 very especially. Kobe Bryant appears there to evoke the Bulls legend.
The episode begins with this dedication “in the tribute of Kobe Bryant”. The two men had met in the 1998 All-Star Game, Jordan’s last with the Bulls and Bryant’s first at just 19 years and 5 months (then the youngest player in history), as a transfer of power.
In the introduction to this episode, there is much talk of the advent of this young star of the Lakers. In particular, there was a discussion in the Eastern team’s locker room about this young Kobe, to whom Jordan would “not leave the ball” if he played on the same team. The scene has stirred immense emotion in the United States, four months after the tragic death of Kobe Bryant in a helicopter crash on January 26. At the “KB8” tribute ceremony, Michael Jordan broke down in tears.

The broadcast of episode 5 provoked many reactions from active players. “This intro is cutting me to pieces,” Lakers player Quinn Cook said. I wish Kobe was here to see this. Thanks for showing this special montage Mike! We miss you Bean.” Former Lakers alum Pau Gasol praised the confrontation between the two monsters.
The Chicago and LA Lakers franchises, which are linked indefinitely to the two stars, also posted messages in reaction to the episode. “Everything you have from me comes from him (MJ),” Kobe Bryant says in the documentary. I wouldn’t have won five championships without him. Because he guided me so much. He gave me so much great advice.”
