NBA: Giannis Antetokounmpo still elected MVP

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been voted MVP of the 2019-2020 NBA regular season. The Greek Milwaukee Bucks had already won this award last year.

It’s a double for the “Greek Freak”. For the second year in a row, Giannis Antetokounmpo (25) has been voted NBA regular season MVP. The information was revealed by knowledgeable ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, three hours before the League’s official announcement.

The key Milwaukee Bucks player, averaging 29.5 points per game in the regular season, competed with James Harden (Houston Rockets) and LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers). The votes took place before the summer resumption of the season in the Disney World bubble in Orlando and therefore only take into account the performances achieved until March 11.

What future?

This award is a great consolation for Giannis Antetokounmpo, eliminated from the play-offs after a 4-1 loss to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals. He was unable to play in the last match due to a second sprained right ankle within 48 hours. An absence which highlighted a “Giannis-dependence” of his team.

After this new failure of the Bucks, the future of the Greek, who has played since his debut in 2013 for the Wisconsin team, was invited to the heart of the debates. “Some see a wall and go in another direction. I prefer to cross it, he nevertheless replied. We just have to improve as a team and individually, and get back to it next season.”
