NBA: Pippen reportedly ‘angry’ at Jordan after ‘The Last Dance’

Former lieutenant of Michael Jordan during the six NBA championships won by the Bulls in the 90s, Scottie Pippen would not have appreciated the turn of some episodes of the documentary “The Last Dance” dedicated to Michael Jordan and the Bulls, or some remarks of the legendary number 23.

While the ten episodes of “The Last Dance” were a huge success, with audiences for ESPN and Netflix, the documentary series – which chronicles Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls epic in the 1990s – didn’t please everyone. The strongest criticism came from Horace Grant. The former winger, winner of three NBA titles with Jordan, denounced the “lies” told by Jordan, estimating that “about 90% of what is told is bogus in relation to reality”.

Pippen would be “furious” and “angry”

If he hasn’t (yet) reacted publicly, Scottie Pippen would also have had a bitter taste when watching this documentary. According to ESPN reporter David Kaplan, the man who was more than a lieutenant to Jordan would be “furious” and “so angry,” disappointed by the way he is portrayed through the episodes. As reported by the Daily Mail, he would not have appreciated Jordan’s comments about his attitude at the beginning of the 1997-98 season. Determined to have a salary increase, at the height of his status, Pippen had postponed a maximum of an operation on the ankle in order to put pressure on its managers. Behaviour deemed “selfish” by Jordan.

Pippen was able to count on Draymond Green’s support on this issue. “I was a little disappointed when Mike, still to this day, said Scottie was wrong. Not. Jordan earned $36 million and Pippen earned $2 million. (…) It doesn’t make sense,” the Warriors insider said in comments reported by USA Today. Pippen also wouldn’t have liked episode 7 to insist so much on his refusal to play the last possession of a 1994 play-off game against New York, frustrated at not being the designated shooter by Phil Jackson.
