Spalding, who has been supplying NBA balls since 1983, will give up his place to Wilson from the 2021-2022 season, the league’s 75th anniversary.
It’s a real revolution that is brewing on the floor of NBA, for now left empty by the pandemic of coronavirus. As reported by the American portal Yahoo Sports, Wilson is preparing to become the next provider of footballs for the basketball championship meeting, starting in the 2021-2022 season.
A change in 1983
For its 75th anniversary, the NBA will be in the new, then parting ways with Spalding, who had been supplying his balls since 1983. The new ball will also be used for the women’s championship as well as the NBA G League, the NBA 2K League and the Basketball Africa League.
It’s a return to basics since Wilson had preceded Spalding on the floor, being the league’s partner for 37 years, before the lease change in 1983.
